Let me tell you about one of my business successes

Several years ago I found myself in an awful mess. I was a single mum, desperately trying to provide all the nice things my son wanted and find quality time to spend with him. I’d fallen out with my (now ex) business partner, our business folded and I was landed with business debts totalling more than £50,000 with no income. After many sleepless nights, I decided to re-mortgage my house and I bought a run-down salon in a less-than-ideal location. The salon’s turnover was around £30,000 per year when I bought it; it was struggling to even pay the 2 therapists’ wages let alone support me and my son.

Within 4 years, I’d increased the annual turnover to £280,000 and sold the business for 11 times the original price!

How did I do it? Am I incredibly lucky? Was I born with a natural talent for business? I’d like to say all of the above but… no, of course not!
